SeaTac Garden Bed Borders & Edging Services

Nothing says ‘well-kept yard’ like crisp, clean edges! Without the right borders, mulch spills into your lawn, grass creeps into your beds, and everything can start to look unkempt quickly. That’s why we specialize in clean, durable borders that can withstand SeaTac’s unique challenges—be it rain, slopes, tree roots, or those tricky tight access areas.

What’s the Problem?

  • Mulch Spills: Heavy rains can wash mulch into your lawn.
  • Grass Creeping: Those pesky rhizomes invade your garden beds.
  • Flimsy Edging: Plastic edging that warps and heaves.
  • Washing Out Edges: Sloped areas suffering from erosion and string trimmer damage.

What We Build (Durable Materials That Last)

  • Steel/Aluminum Edging: Flexible yet sturdy; our 3/16” steel or heavy-gauge aluminum stays put and resists rust.
  • Paver Soldier Course: A classic look using brick or concrete pavers on a compacted base.
  • Natural Stone Border: Robust basalt or fieldstone for a natural aesthetic that complements your landscape.
  • Concrete Mow Strip: A cast-in-place 4–6” strip for a clean edge—perfect for aggressive grass areas.
  • Timber Edging: Ground-contact rated for warmth and proper drainage.
  • Cut Bed Edge: A cost-effective option using a deep spade cut—requires seasonal maintenance.

We avoid flimsy roll plastic edging—trust us, it just doesn’t hold up! If you want straight edges, we build them straight.

How We Build (No Shortcuts Here!)

  1. Layout: We map out smooth curves and lines using paint and string.
  2. Excavate & Base: We remove sod and organics, laying down a crushed rock base compacted in layers.
  3. Set & Pin: Edging is secured with stakes; for pavers, we establish a sand bed and proper edge restraint.
  4. Drainage & Slopes: We create weep holes and use jute/staples on steep banks to keep mulch in place.
  5. Backfill & Finish: Final grades are set; we ensure transitions are tidy.
  6. Protection: Install trimmer guards to prevent lawn damage.

Quick Specs We Aim For

  • Reveal height: ½–1” above grade (keeping mulch in while allowing mowers to clear).
  • Base depth: 2–4” of crushed rock beneath edges.
  • Stake spacing: 24” for straight runs; tighter on curves and slopes.
  • Paver bed: Compacted sub-base; polymeric joint sand if exposed to traffic.
  • Slope: Edges pitched slightly into beds to prevent washouts.

Our Annual Maintenance Plan (Your Yard’s Best Friend)

  • Edge Integrity Checks: We’ll re-pin loose sections and tap back any drift.
  • String-Line Tune: We’ll re-cut natural edges for that crisp line.
  • Mulch Top-Ups: Maintaining a 2–3” depth prevents weeds.
  • Weed Control: We focus on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) along borders.
  • Mower/Trimmer Height Notes: To prevent edge scalping and bark damage.

We’re your low-maintenance landscaping team. Our goal? Fewer problems between visits and less work for you!

Service Cadences (Choose What Works for You)

  • Quarterly: A spring/fall reset plus two tune-ups throughout the year.
  • Bi-Monthly: Ideal for high-growth lawns and sloped beds.

(For fresh installs on slopes? Start monthly for 60–90 days, then taper off.)

What Annual Maintenance Includes

  • Re-cutting edges and cleaning curves
  • Inspecting edge restraint and re-staking
  • Polymeric re-sanding for paver borders
  • Mulch redistribution/top-up for even depth
  • Photo updates showcasing sharp lines!

Why Annual Maintenance Matters

  • Curb Appeal: Clean lines enhance your home’s first impression.
  • Weed Prevention: Well-maintained edges effectively block grass creep.
  • Less Erosion: Properly tuned slopes keep mulch in place.
  • Cost Efficiency: Touch-ups are cheaper than full re-builds!

How It Works

  1. Free Estimate: We’ll gather photos or do a quick walkthrough for clear pricing.
  2. Design & Material Selection: Choose the material that fits your style and site best.
  3. Build Day: We’ll excavate, lay the base, set, pin, and finish—leaving no mess behind.
  4. Follow-Up: You’ll receive care notes and a maintenance schedule tailored for your property.
